The Westmoreland County Historical Society offers a variety of activities and services including:

Educational programs, open to the public and focusing on some aspect of the history of Westmoreland County.

Publication of the Westmoreland History Magazine three times a year.

Publication of a quarterly newsletter - The Westmoreland Chronicle.

Publication of books and pamphlets relating to Westmoreland County history and genealogy.

The administration of Historic Hanna's Town.

Occasional tours to other sites of historical interest.

Maintains a 700,000 plus item archival collection that includes old photographs, historical documents, diaries, maps, and personal papers relating to the history of the county.

Maintains a 5,000-volume library of genealogical records and resources.

Maintains a reference library for general research into county history.

Programs for schools and speakers for groups and organizations.

An archaeological collection of over 1 million artifacts from the Hanna's Town site.

The Society is aided in its services and programming by a certified archivist and a genealogy researcher.
