Site Ten – Jacob’s Creek Crossing

Continue driving 0.5 mile to the intersection with Mudd School Road.  Continue straight on what is now the Hammondsville Road for 1.0 mile to the intersection with Water Street in the small town of Bridgeport.  Braddock’s Road probably ran exactly along Hammondsville Road crossing Jacob’s Creek at this point.  The army then

marched in a northwesterly direction.

Turn left on Water Street for 0.3 mile and turn right on Buckeye Tramm Road.  Drive 0.6 mile to the intersection with Church Road.  Just before you reach Church Road, look to your right across broad fields rising up to woods.  Braddock’s Road ran across this area angling northwest

towards modern-day Mt. Pleasant.

Turn right on Church Road for 1.2 miles.  The road enters Mount Pleasant and becomes Eagle Street passing near Mount Pleasant Hospital.  It also passes Ramsay Elementary School where a spring existed in the 18th century.  Braddock’s army probably rested there on

July 2, 1755.
